I've been told my description of it as "one of the most powerful stories about love that you'll ever read" is a wee bit off the mark. But I honestly can't think of any other way to describe it, nor as a parent can I imagine taking any other path than the one the protagonist took. It may be folly, but I could never give up hope that my child might be saved, even in the most dire of circumstances.
